Lenny Kravitz Live, San Diego, May 19, 2005

Coachella 2005

I had bought Marie tickets to see her favorite singer, Lenny Kravitz. But she's been so busy with her portfolio work, that she couldn't go. That's how incredibly busy she's been. I feel for her. But I love her passion for what she does and I understand her compromise. And I hate that she missed the concert, because it was a great show and she would've loved it. Besides Angie and Carol were there too so she would've enjoyed the company. I hope she doesn't read this. And if she asks, tell her Lenny was awful.

So Lance and I ended up going to the show at the Copley Symphony Hall. I was never a big Lenny Kravitz fan, but tonight I was truly impressed. I always liked his early stuff, but kinda lost interest when he started doing "American Woman" stuff. Tonight, however, my respect for Lenny was restored. He is a true performer. Singer. Dancer. Guitarist. Entertainer. Rock Star. And his band absolutely rocks, especially his phenomenal female drummer who I was really looking forward to seeing bang them drums live. And she was exactly as great as I imagined her to be.

Lenny put on a great show. He was sincerely into his music and into pleasing the crowd. After the first two songs, he addressed the security asking them to allow the audience to get closer to the stage. OK, no problem. Lance and I ended up right up there at row 5 or so. Way cool. Here are some photos I managed to take:

After the show Lance and I hit the Honey Bee Hive because mamma said to check out some electro-techno DJ stuff - sound collages and such.

  • Lenny's a player. Wish I could've gotten in the mix that night and witnessed him live. Met him once - but never have attended a show. Next time, fo' sure....
