Singin' Them Blues At The Waterfront

Bello and I walked in on some of the best bar music I've ever experienced. It was just a regular weeknight at the Waterfront, but this great guitarist who was singing the blues like there was no tomorrow made it special. I wish I was good on the harmonica.

Super-boy Meets Spider-man

My adorable nephew JJ turned 4 today. I took photos of him meeting his hero, Spider-man. I really wish I could've read JJ's mind at that moment. I wonder if he was at all disappointed that Spiderman wasn't as fit in person as he is in the movies and the comic books.

Undersea Restaurant

The World's First All-glass Undersea Restaurant Opened at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. I wonder if the seafood is fresh...

"Opening in mid-March 2005, Ithaa is the only aquarium-style underwater restaurant in the world. Set five meters underwater on a coral reef, Ithaa's innovative glass aquarium design gives diners 360-degree views of the surrounding reef life, while offering an extensive seafood menu. Ithaa, which means pearl in the local Maldivian language, promises a unique dining experience, with humans inside the aquarium and the fish looking in."

Here are some more pictures from the MoMA:

Stunning.

Marie and I checked out the New York Museum of Modern Art. Within half an hour of being inside, this place became one of my favorite places in the whole world. Anywhere. Ever. The It.

I was in disbelief, standing in front of artwork by some of my favorite artists, including Claude Monet, Vasily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Willem de Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein, Kenneth Noland, James Rosenquist, Josiah McElheny, Joan MirĂ³, Gerhard Richter, and RenĂ© Magritte. Hundreds of times before I've stared at their artwork, thumbing through the pages of an art book. Standing right in front of the original creations felt as surreal as being part of a Dali painting. And as unbelievable as it may seem, I was allowed to take photographs of the artwork. Enjoy:

Cape Cod

Since we like the potato chips with the same name so much, Marie and I decided to visit Cape Cod.

»  Cape Cod Potato Chips are hand-cooked and hand-inspected before packaging and shipping to stores all over the globe.

»  Cape Cod is known as the Land of Lighthouses - more lighthouses than any other area in America.

»  The paper bag was first created in Dennis, Cape Cod, by Luther Child Crowell and patented by him in 1867.

»  Provincetown's Pilgrim Monument, at 252-feet, is the tallest all-granite structure in America.

Canon EOS 20D, You're Mine!

Yes! Finally! I am the happy owner of a Canon EOS 20D. I bought it from B&H Photo over on 420 Ninth Avenue in New York, which is by the way, one of the most impressive specialty stores I've ever been to.

It's been so long since someone stole my G5 camera and I've really missed taking photos. Watch out because once I learn how to use my new 20D monster camera, I will be unstoppable! I feel like my "you will be mine one day, oh yes, you will be mine!" dream from Wayne's World just became true.

Time to read the manual. Damn manuals! I can't wait to just shoot.

New York, New York!

Marie and I checked in at Hotel 31 on 120 E. 31 Street.

New York City rocks! It's great to be back.

Time to hit the streets. Time to feel the energy of The City. Time to be tourists riding on the Gray Line Sightseeing Tour Bus and taking pictures. And time to celebrate Marie's b-day at Vita Restaurant.

jetTwo on jetBlue

Marie and I flew off to New York City on a red-eye flight.

jetBlue rocks. Totally, dude! Choosing and changing your seats online is a real convenience, check-in is quick and easy(you can check-in online from home), free Wi-Fi on the terminal is a great plus, the overall service is excellent, serving blue Terra chips is way hip, and every plane has a really cool unique design on its tail. What's the real icing on the cake is that every seat on the plane has its own TV monitor with its own controls. You may choose from 26 live TV channels courtesy of DirecTV. Way Sweet! Time truly flies while the plane flies. Oh, and did I mention that they have airfare specials the price of a train/bus ride?

One of jetBlue's slogans is "We love you too!" I knew in order to love somebody they had to love you back! I knew it!

The Next Picasso Works In A Coffee Shop

I took a picture of Marie's latte once and thought - man, this is pretty cool - I should start collecting such coffee shop art creations.

Well, I didn't have an original idea. There's someone out there way ahead of me already with this:
Latte Art

My favorite from their collection is this one:

It kinda looks like my childhood dog, Chara. Really.

Don't Try This At The Gym

I still cannot believe my eyes! I broke this stunt frame by frame to be convinced the video footage was not edited. (Editing this could be almost as tough as the trick itself)

See the movie clip here or for the lo-fi version simply scroll this page up and down.

This is absolutely nuts! I can't decide if the girl is crazy, cool, suicidal, awesome, stupid or brave.

Airport Lounge - Tonight And Seven Years Ago

Our apartment missed us today.

Marie and I had a lovely breakfast at our fave Saturday-morning joint, Krakatoa Cafe. We love that place. Great food, comfy patio, free Wi-Fi...perfect.

In the early afternoon, while Marie was checking out the Y-Conference, I met Brandon, Annette, and Araceli at the Princess Pub for a few cold Newcastles and a relaxing lazy silly chat.

In the early evening I joined Marie at the Airport Lounge for the Y-Conference afterparty. The Airport Lounge is a very cool place, by the way. Worth checking out. The interior resembles the inside of a plane. Very stylish. The bartenders are all dressed in flight attendant uniforms and the outside area is right below the path of the seconds-till-landing airplanes. I swear you could almost touch them if you jumped - depending on how much you've had to drink.

At the Airport Lounge we ran into a number of familiar faces, most notably Bernard who used to drum for serahtonic back in the day. A great pleasant surprise! I just found the photo on the right and to my even greater surprise, I noticed that it is from exactly 7 years ago tomorrow. The photo was taken after our show at Brick By Brick opening for the awesome live band Swervedriver. I remember the day as if it was yesterday. I had just returned from visiting Marie in Paris and I remember taking a cab from the airport straight to Brick By Brick for the show. And the craziest thing is that I was at a real Airport Lounge back then exactly 7 years ago on the same date as today!

Sometimes when you have a drink or two, you don't really want to go home and call it a night. You want to feel alive and tonight was such a night for me, especially after running into Bernard and having all these sentimental memories flooding my brain. The night had become our mountain slope, inviting us to ski or snowboard, or even tube it if not stable enough. By now there was no stopping or turning back - we already had our boots strapped on and were already coming off the gates on the slopes of San Diego nightlife. With goggles on or not, the race was on. Joined Brandon, Rick, and Jeff and checked out Scelfo's DJ set at the brand new Confidential Restaurant & Loft. Nice. Very nice. Not too many wipe outs and a nice smooth ride for the most part.

While watching Scelfo spin his records on the turntables, I kept thinking about the old days of serahtonic with Bernard and how, similar to the rotating vinyl, in 7 years we've spun around a full circle. Out of the blue we ran into each other tonight...at an Airport Lounge - a place that I was at exactly 7 years ago. Wicked! My head was definitely spinning like them vinyl records and my mind was definitely up in the clouds with them airplanes all night.

I forget if I turned off the iron at home.

Drink Up, Fool

Google's got a great April Fool's day joke: Google Gulp. My favorite flavor is, of course, Sero-tonic Water.
