Northern State In Southern California

Pazzo, Jeff, Brandon, Marie and I went to see Northern State at the Casbah. We caught the last 2 songs of the opening act, The Groove Bros from Brooklyn, who were really really good by the way. I wish I had seen more of their set. The drummer and the DJ remained on stage as they were part of the headliner's live band. Northern State, or the female Beastie Boys as many already call them, were full of energy and rockin' out Old Skool style! Werd.


After the show, we chatted up a bit with Hesta Prynn, DJ Sprout and Spero, and then went down to the Kava Lounge for some dub reggae and some magic drinks.

The Orange Traffic Cone

I met Chris at Station Sushi in Solana Beach for a bite and a drink and a nice buddy conversation. Talked about life. Good heavy stuff.

Then we noticed all these orange cones across the street. There are some very functional tools all around us that we use every day and take for granted. You look at an orange cone and probably go "But of course. It's an orange cone. It serves a purpose. If it wasn't around I could've come up with it. Simple." But in reality, inventing something like the orange cone is a big deal and not that easy.

So it was decided that the inventor of the orange cone has got to be one brilliant man. Would love to meet him or her for a drink and discuss the thought process of coming up with such a great invention.


note: Bono didn't invent the orange cone; he just likes to play with one.

Viva Las Vegas

Marie, Gisele and I drove out to sin city tonight. Las Vegas completely blows my mind. This place is so unreal. The Vegas strip is a movie set. There is no plot. There are no main characters. Crowds of movie extras flock the hotel casinos, while the 105-degree-Fahrenheit streets of "Paris", "Venice", and "Brooklyn" outside are rather empty and cold. This is a mind trip. And everything seems so detached from real life, until one notices the sad/excited face of the 9pm-to-5am gambler with scrolling cherries and diamonds reflecting off her fogged up glasses...
